YPK Bali Programs

YPK Bali’s programs have been designed to provide quality support to people of all ages with a range of physical disabilities.

Rehabilitation Program

The rehabilitation center offers patients a multidisciplinary therapy approach, incorporating physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

The physiotherapy is a range of stretches and exercises tailored to the needs of each patient. In combination with the use of gym and clinic equipment, this type of therapy improves overall muscle function by increasing muscle flexibility, strength and endurance.

The physiotherapy consist of:

  • Gymnasium
  • Manual therapy such as stretching
  • Electric therapy

Occupational Therapy focuses on retraining muscle function to help patients independently perform day-to-day activities, such as eating, drinking, washing and getting dressed. In some cases YPK will prescribe mobility aides, such as arm splints, crutches, wheelchairs and braces to enable more independence for patients.

Occupancy therapy consist of:

  • Upper and lower limb classes
  • Daily living classes
  • Cooking classes
  • Garden therapy
  • Music therapy
  • Playground therapy

Education Program

In 2009 YPK launched their informal education program named “Life Skills for Children with Physically Disability”. This provides specialised modified education for children with physical disabilities.

It is delivered by professional teachers with the aim to improve children’s’ independence and self-confidence by combining basic education, social interaction and occupational therapy. This integrated program helps children to be independent, thus reducing the burden of care on their families. Indeed, it ultimately leads to greater respect for and acceptance of the disabled in Bali.

Donating items to YPK Bali is a great way to support the Education Program and the children involved in it. You can also help more children to access the program by making a financial donation.

Mobile Clinic Program

The aim of the mobile clinic program is to be able to provide YPK services to more people who have a disability, especially those living in villages which are located far from the headquarters of YPK.

The mobile units consist of two fully modified vehicles with rehabilitation equipment suitable to assist up to 550 people per year. Not only do the physiotherapists provide treatment programs to people attending the clinics, they also educate and promote community awareness on various aspects of disabilities and home treatment.

BaliRungu Program

Our BaliRungu is a program that provides assistance to people with a hearing disability by providing hearing assessments, access to an ENT specialist and subsidised hearing aids. The program also delivers education and public awareness on the prevention of hearing loss.

Future Vision

Residential Care Facility

A YPK initiative, the Residential Care Facility will provide accommodation and 24 hour care to 40 homeless people who have a disability and who are not cared for by their families. The facility will not only provide food and shelter for both adults and children, it will offer medical and health care, nursing care, rehabilitation, life skills and education.

The development is a major financial investment for YPK and requires significant donor support, fundraising events, sponsorship campaigns and international funding is required on an ongoing basis.

Please help us materialize our vision.

Although YPK rehabilitation services are free and are open to anyone, our focus is to provide our programs to people from underprivileged backgrounds. We encourage our wealthier patients to make a small donation to help more disadvantaged people access our services.
